Accessibility

Last updated: 24 October 2026. Items in [square brackets] are placeholders to be completed.

We want everyone to be able to practise for an interview, and to take one, with Riwork. We build to WCAG 2.2 level AA. This page says what we have done, what we have not tested yet, and how to ask for something different. It is not a claim of full conformance: we have not had an independent audit.

What you can rely on today

  • You never need a microphone or a camera. Every interview can be answered by typing, and the camera and recording are optional.
  • The interviewer’s words are always in text. Captions can be switched on while Ava speaks, and the full transcript is available in the room.
  • Everything can be used with a keyboard: a skip link on every page, a visible focus ring, and menus and dialogs that move focus in and return it when they close.
  • Pages reflow down to a 320 px wide window (about 400% zoom) without sideways scrolling, and text and controls meet the AA contrast and target-size rules in our automated checks.
  • Animation stops if your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Candidates can use the invitation page in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese or Hindi.

How we check

Every change runs an automated scan (axe-core, the WCAG 2.0 to 2.2 A and AA rules) over every public page and the main signed-in screens, at 320, 768 and 1280 px wide. The scan also opens menus, drawers, dialogs and toasts, and joins a live interview in typing mode, because that is where focus and labelling usually go wrong. A change that adds a violation does not ship.

What we haven't tested yet

Automated checks find only part of the problems people meet. We have not yet:

  • tested with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack), voice control or switch devices, or with disabled users;
  • reviewed the coding exercise editor and the system-design whiteboard with assistive technology. The whiteboard has a written explanation field alongside the diagram, but both are the likeliest places to find problems;
  • checked forced-colours (high-contrast) mode, text-spacing overrides or colour contrast over photographs and gradients by hand;
  • tested the video avatar, an optional feature, with captions in every browser.

The sign-in screens for practice accounts are provided by a third party (Clerk) and checkout pages by Stripe; we configure them but cannot change their markup.

Time limits

Practice interviews have no time limit on your answers. A coding exercise has a time limit set by the hiring team for that job. If you need more time or a different format, ask the company that invited you before you start; the invitation page tells you how.

Asking for an adjustment, or reporting a problem

If you were invited by a company and need an adjustment, such as more time, a person instead of the AI interviewer, or a different format, contact that company directly: they decide how the interview is run, and the invitation page shows how to reach them when they have given contact details.

If something on Riwork itself doesn’t work for you, tell us what you were trying to do, the page, and the browser and assistive technology you use. Contact: [accessibility contact address]. We aim to reply within [number] working days and to fix what blocks someone from taking part first.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to [the enforcement body for your country or region].
