Questions to ask your interviewer

Your questions show what you care about and help you decide if the job is right for you. Prepare more than you need, since some will be answered during the conversation.

About the role

  • What would a successful first three months look like?
  • What are the hardest parts of this role?
  • How is the work divided between the people on the team?

About the team and how work happens

  • How does the team decide priorities and handle disagreement?
  • How is feedback given, and how often?
  • What does a typical week look like?

About growth and next steps

  • How do people typically develop in this role?
  • What are the next steps in the process, and when should I expect to hear back?

What to avoid

  • Questions whose answers are on the website or in the job description.
  • Opening with pay, leave or perks before you understand the role. Raise these when the time is right for the process.
  • Having no questions at all.
